Our approach
About Goodies Stack
Who operates Goodies Stack, how its browser tools and original examples are checked, and how to report a correction.
Useful without the ceremony
Goodies Stack exists to make common tasks easier. Each tool is designed to open quickly, explain itself clearly, and work without an account wherever practical.
We favor focused interfaces, browser-native features, and local processing when it suits the task. That keeps tools responsive and can reduce the amount of information that needs to leave your device.
Tools with an explanation you can check
Goodies Stack combines small browser utilities with explanations of what their results mean. You can calculate a weighted grade and follow the arithmetic, total a shift that crosses midnight, or compare typing sessions using a stated scoring method.
The collection is growing to cover writing, websites, business, design, study and everyday tasks. Paid web apps have their own accounts, usage limits and cloud-processing information. The existing free utilities continue serving writing, study, focus, counting and practice tasks. Each tool page includes instructions and the assumptions that can change the result. The practical guides go further into weighted grades, work hours, typing practice, speech drafts, focus sessions, and classroom draws.
The ten existing free utilities process their inputs in your browser. Some save the current state on that device, while others discard it when the page closes. The Privacy page identifies what each tool saves.
How we check our tools and examples
The explanations describe the methods implemented in Goodies Stack. Worked examples use made-up inputs so you can reproduce them without supplying personal records. Sample challenge scores illustrate the arithmetic; they are not survey results, population averages, or claims about your ability.
Calculation checks cover ordinary inputs and edge cases such as incomplete grade weights, overnight shifts, early reaction clicks, and unavailable browser storage. Browser checks cover the main tool journeys on desktop and mobile layouts, including Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit. Passing those checks reduces avoidable mistakes, but does not guarantee every device behaves identically.
Dates on guides identify their publication and substantive revisions. A checked date on a tool records a review of its behavior and examples. We do not change a date just because the site was rebuilt. When an outside rule matters—such as which work breaks are paid or which assignments count toward a grade—the relevant employer or institution defines that rule; the calculator only applies the inputs you provide.
If a result or explanation looks wrong, send a correction with the page, a small non-sensitive example, and the expected result. A reproducible example helps us check the calculation and the wording together.
What we build for
- Immediate use on phones, tablets, and desktop computers
- Clear keyboard and assistive-technology support
- Minimal setup, dependencies, and infrastructure
- Honest explanations of when browser storage or network services are used
