Weighted categories
Contribution = category grade × category weight ÷ 100
An 88% homework grade worth 40% contributes 35.2 points. A 76% exam grade worth 60% contributes 45.6 points. Together they produce an overall grade of 80.8%.
Final exam score needed
Needed final = [target − current × (1 − final weight)] ÷ final weight
With an 82% current grade, an 85% target, and a final worth 30%, the required final score is 92%. Enter the weight as 30, and the calculator converts it to 0.30 for the formula.

What the grade results mean
Contribution and normalized grade
When entered weights total less than 100%, contribution shows their effect on the whole course. Normalized grade measures performance across only the categories entered, so the two values answer different questions.
Targets outside 0–100%
A required final above 100% is mathematically out of reach if the exam is capped at 100%. A result at or below 0% means the target is already secured mathematically, although course rules can still apply.

Will this always match my school’s grade?
Not necessarily. Dropped assignments, rounding, category rules, and other policies vary, so check your course rules when the result matters.
