Your browser-local note

Saved locally

Your note stays in this browser and is not uploaded to Goodies Stack.

Clear this note?

This removes the locally saved note from the editor.

Quick guide

How to use the online notepad

  1. 1

Type in the editor; the note saves automatically to localStorage in this browser.

  2. 2

Use Copy or Download .txt when you want the text elsewhere.

  3. 3

Choose Clear / New Note and confirm when you want a blank page.

Capture, organize, then keep a copy

Use this single-note editor for a working draft, a meeting outline, or a temporary checklist. A simple structure is enough: put the date and topic first, group related notes under short headings, then list the next actions. Plain text stays readable when you copy it into another app.

For a study session, write three headings: “Questions”, “What I checked”, and “Next attempt”. Add a concrete next step under the last heading before you stop. Pairing those notes with the Pomodoro Timergives each interval a clear task and somewhere to leave your progress.

When the note matters, choose Download .txt and open the downloaded file to confirm its contents. Rename the copy with a topic and date in your files app. Copy is convenient for moving text, but the clipboard changes the next time you copy something else.

Autosave is local storage, not a backup

The editor saves shortly after you stop typing and when you leave or hide the page, and displays its save status. Returning to Goodies Stack in the same browser profile can restore the note. Another device, another browser, or a private browsing window has a different storage context and will not automatically contain it.

Clearing browser site data can remove the saved note. Private browsing data is normally cleared when the private session ends, and storage can be blocked or unavailable. If the editor shows that it cannot save, copy or download your text before closing the page.

There is one current note per browser storage context, with no note library, cloud sync, or version history. Avoid editing it in several tabs at once: independent edits are not merged. A separate downloaded copy protects against losing the current note or accidentally replacing it.

Know what plain text keeps

The downloaded file contains your text and line breaks in UTF-8 encoding. It does not include fonts, colors, images, attachments, or rich-text tables. If you paste from a formatted document, review the result because layout can change. Headings and list markers remain ordinary typed characters.

Word and character totals update as you write. They use the same counting method as the Word Counter, where you can also inspect paragraphs, sentences, and estimated reading time.

Local processing means Goodies Stack does not upload the note. It does not mean the browser storage is an encrypted vault: another person using the same unlocked browser profile may be able to open it. Use a tool intended for protected records when that protection is part of your task.

Before choosing Clear / New Note, download anything you want to keep. Confirming the clear removes the current note, and Goodies Stack has no server copy from which to recover it.

Online Notepad FAQ

Is my note uploaded?

No. The note stays in this browser and Goodies Stack does not upload its contents. Clearing browser site data can remove it.

Can I open the same note on another device?

No. There is no account or cloud sync, so each browser has its own locally saved note.

What format does Download use?

The browser creates a plain-text file named goodiesstack-note.txt directly on your device.
